Our Mission

At One House, our mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where teens can process, understand, and express the emotions that often accompany the trauma of parental divorce or separation.

As adolescents enter their teenage years, many begin to internalize difficult emotions and experiences. While striving for greater independence, they are often still developing the emotional tools needed to navigate significant family changes on their own. Without the proper support, these challenges can impact their confidence, relationships, and overall well-being.

At One House, we walk alongside teens as they work through these complex feelings. Through guided discussions and a supportive peer community, we help them gain perspective, build emotional resilience, and discover that they are not alone in their journey. Our goal is to equip every teen with the confidence, understanding, and hope needed to move forward and thrive.

At One House, we…

01
Empower Teens to Move Forward

We help teens process difficult emotions and gain perspective on circumstances beyond their control. By validating their experiences and equipping them with practical tools, we empower them to navigate life with confidence and resilience.

02
Build Meaningful Community

No teen should feel alone in their journey. Through connection and shared experiences, our teens discover the strength that comes from community, support, and facing challenges together.

03
Encourage Healthy Growth

We provide resources, guidance, and next steps that help teens develop healthy habits, positive coping skills, and a foundation for continued growth and healing.

04
Support the Whole Family

Healing is most effective when families heal together. As teens build community, parents are encouraged and connected as well. When families grow stronger, teens are better equipped to thrive.

"It took me 16 years, but it doesn't have to take you that long."

-Unique Kizer, Founder of One House

A woman with medium skin tone and black curly hair, wearing a black dress with puffed sleeves, standing against a white brick wall, smiling with red lipstick.

At 12 years old, Unique’s world changed when her parents decided to divorce.

Her mother, trying to prepare her, asked, “How would you feel if your dad and I divorced?”

To her surprise, Unique smiled.

Unique thought maybe divorce would finally bring peace to their home. Children are often more aware of turmoil than adults realize. Even at such a young age, Unique believed that divorce might be for the best.

But when the divorce became reality, she discovered she had no idea how deeply it would affect her.

For years, the pain followed her—into her relationships, her academics, and the way she understood herself. Beneath it all was a longing for somewhere safe: a place to be heard, understood, and given permission to process emotions she didn’t yet have words for.

In her early twenties, Unique plugged into her local church community, sought therapy, and encountered Christ in a fresh and deeply personal way. That journey became a path toward healing, hope, and a life she once struggled to imagine.

Today, she is creating that space she once needed to help other young people who are walking through the pain of broken homes and unresolved emotions.

Because a good life— one filled with healing, purpose, and joy—is possible on the other side of a broken home. That is the heart of Unique and One House.

Inspired by 1 Peter 5:10 — Unique founded One House.

"And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Today, One House exists to provide Christ-centered support, practical tools, and compassionate community so that teens and parents can experience healing, restoration, and renewed hope in Christ.
